Sunday Strolls

There isn't anything I love more than going out and doing things with my family and our dogs! I love walking around the neighborhood and getting out together.

When I woke up this morning I thought it was pretty warm out so I threw on a sweater and some flats... but as soon as I got out there I was reminded that it is still pretty damn cold! So back on went the winter gear!

I was too cold so we cut our walk short and went for a drive to Starbucks and A&W instead. Hopefully tomorrow will be warmer!

Carter's been really cranky lately, I think he's teething. I bought one of those amber necklaces but I don't think it's doing much. He was so upset tonight after our walk so I just let him fall asleep and cuddle with me on the couch instead of doing his regular bath and bed routine.

If anyone has any tips for teething please share 'em!!!

Throwback Thursday! Carter's first photo shoot!!!

My little man is just growing so quickly! I miss when he was just a teeny tiny little guy! Thought I'd share some photos of his first photo shoot and reminisce a little :)

All of these photos were taken by the incredibly talented Shannon Bower. Go check her out www.shannonbower.com

This is my fave! I call it "Grumpy Bear" lol!

This one was hilarious to watch her shoot, every time he breathed the tail would "wag"

It's so hard for me to believe he was this tiny at one point! He's still a pretty tiny little guy but definitely not 5 pounds anymore!

If you live nearby you have to get in with Shannon! I almost couldn't because she was so busy and I was devastated. But luckily for me she had a cancellation and was just able to fit us in! She's so wonderful with babies and has the right touch to get them to camera perfect :)! I can't wait to get back in with her!

Homemade Baby Food

I have been looking forward to this day since I was pregnant lol! I've been so excited to be able to make Carter homemade baby food.

A few weeks ago at his monthly visit our Dr. recommended we start feeding him vegetable purees since he still isn't gaining enough weight (along with breastfeeding of course, I have no plans giving that up). I was hoping to wait until he was at least 6 months but the Dr. said it wasn't a problem starting a month early.  We went and bought the baby bullet steamer that evening! You could steam without the baby bullet steamer but I'm a sucker for cute baby products! I mean just look at this thing!

I decided his first food would be carrots. They were so easy! I just cut them up into "baby carrots" sized pieces and threw them on the steamer for the recommended time (13 minutes). After they cooled I put them in my blender with some breast milk. You can also use formula or water. I always boil my water first if that's what I'm using to mix with. You can add more/less depending on your desired consistency.

I learned on Pinterest about pouring the puree into an ice cube tray and freezing for convenience. You just pop out a couple and microwave! It's so easy!

Carter didn't seem to really love or hate the carrots. Just indifferent. But a few days later when I made him Avocado...well that was pure love! He just wanted more and more! I made sure to try the same food for a few days before introducing a new type in case of any allergies.

Tonight I made him some sweet potato and some squash. The squash ended up being a bit more like squash soup, I put in a bit too much milk. I didn't steam the squash because I wasn't really sure how to do it so I just cut it in half, threw it in the oven for 30 minutes (rotating the tray halfway through) and blended once cooled.

We're having tons of fun trying all these new veggies, I can't wait to start mixing and coming up with some recipes!

Feel free to leave me some tips, comments, or recipes. We would love some ideas!

Carter's Room Tour!!!

My favorite room in our house is by far Carter's nursery! It's so beautiful! I've always called my fiancee my little lamb(he's gonna kill me for putting that in there!) and my little baby as my lambino while pregnant, so we just knew we had to have a little lamb theme! Hope you enjoy the photos (sorry the color is off in some of the photos...I still need to learn how to properly use my camera)!

A friend of mine painted this sweet little lamb for us. It's my favorite thing in his room! The "Shhh... baby dreaming" decal is from etsy!

Carter's Corner

Welcome to my first post! I figured what better way than to start off with Carter's Corner. I'll post things that Carter and mommy and daddy enjoy, and that begins with books!

Reading to babies is so important. It is crucial in language development, and not to mention the quality bonding time! We love reading to Carter and have been since bringing him home from the hospital at 3 days old! I read him a story every morning after we wake up and daddy reads to him when he gets home from work. We're always picking up new books for him and adding to his first little library. Here's a few that I recently ordered from Chapters:

We Belong Together by Joyce Wan- An ode to all the pairs that go together as perfectly as a parent and their child, this adorable board book is the perfect companion and follow-up title to You Are My Cupcake.

You Are My Cupcake by Joyce Wan- This bite-sized board book is an ode to all the names we call our children: cutie pie, sweet pea, peanut, pumpkin. With a candy-colored palette and irresistible art, this is the perfect baby shower gift!

This is my favorite page from We Belong Together

The pages in Wan's books are playful and vibrant! Her books are my favorite! Joyce Wan also has a fabulous stationary company, check out her website for some really great gift ideas! www.wanart.com

The last book but definitely not least...

Toot by Leslie Paticelli- Everybody does it: Kitty, Doggy, Daddy-even Mommy! And when Leslie Patricelli's beloved bald baby does it while running, it sounds like a train. This frank and very funny look at a certain noisy body function is perfectly suited to the youngest of listeners, while their giggling older siblings will be happy to read it aloud.

Oh. My. God. This book lol! The first time I tried to read this I couldn't stop laughing! It's hilarious! Very cute and funny. I'm sure Carter will get a kick out of it when he understands it!

That's it for now but I'm sure I'll be posting some more books and of course other posts quite soon!

Oh, and the little mouse rattle security blanket is from Carter's :)

Thanks for stopping by!
xoxo
